Mayhem and Movies
Thanks to the Year 7 Enterprise Group who organised a super fundraiser on Friday. The pupils raised a super amount for charity and Year 3 had a great time! Well done to the Year 7s.
Sport’s Day Fun

Platinum Jubilee Celebrations
​Today we celebrated the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in style with a parade in the hall, a tea party in our classrooms and jubilee activities which included a photo with the Queen and one of her guards! Scroll down to see your photo, Year 3! The children enjoyed wearing their gorgeous outfits and looked fantastic! Well done everyone! 
Dromara Dynamos
Congratulations to our Year 3 Dynamos who received their certificates after our trip to W5. Well done to you both.

Year 3 Trip to W5
Our class were able to enjoy a visit to W5 today. They had a session at 'ClimbIt' where the children showed how great they are at climbing and managing heights! Fantastic! This was followed by time in ‘Over the Hills’ which gave the children lots of interactive experiences. Our final session was in the ‘Marvellous Machine’ section where we were reminded of how machines help us in so many ways.
So proud of our class today in how they took part in all the activities and showed good manners throughout the visit. Well done Year 3!
Sportathon Fun

We’ve been using the balances to compare the weight of objects around our classroom. Great group work Year 3!
STEM Activities in Year 3
This week we began our weekly STEM activities which focus on movement and energy. We began by investigating forces using play dough and how they can cause change the play dough to change shape.
Activity Based Learning - People from the Past
This week we moved to our second set of activities linked to our People from the Past topic. We’ve been learning through activities which include building castles and palaces for Princess Diana as well as making statues of famous people from the past! Watch out for our creations on the window sill! Our first statues have been of Harry Ferguson and Princess Diana.
Independent Writing
The question posed to Year 3 today was:
‘What would you do if you were king or queen for a day?’
Year 3 pupils wrote about lots of great imaginative ideas including kindness towards people who are less fortunate that ourselves. So thoughtful!
People from the Past Profiles
Year 3 worked on groups to complete their own research and write profiles about famous people from the past. They shared their research with the rest of the class. Great work, Year 3!
Internet Safety
Year 3 designed mascots as part of ‘Internet Safety Day’. Great designs Year 3!
People from the Past
We have began our new class topic of People from the Past. We’ll be learning about lots of famous people who did something special or made a difference when they were alive.
Activity Based Learning
Our play is always linked to our class topic, This week we are making crowns like those worn by Princess Diana or Prince Philip, using Popoids to make people from the past, interviewing famous people in our Dromara TV Studios, making story characters as well as some maths games - money on the computers and a shape game. Here we are in action…
Imaginative Writing
The children have been writing super stories about adventures of fruits and vegetables. Great work Year 3!
Pancake Tuesday
As part of our food topic we were able to enjoy some pancake making! Great reading of a recipe, following instructions and sequencing by Year 3…and of course some eating too!
Dromara Dynamo
This week’s Year 3 Dromara Dynamos. Well done!
Every fortnight two pupils from each class are awarded Dynamo certificates. The certficates are awarded to pupils who have been trying their best, being kind to others and showing good behaviour. Well done to this fortnight’s Dynamos!

Food Investigation
This week we are investigating the changes which happen when we leave foods uncovered. Year 3 discussed the appearance of the food on the first day of the investigation and recorded what the foods looked like. The pupils were able to discuss how they think the foods will change over the next week and the changes they expect to see. We also predicted that we probably won’t want to eat these foods after a day or two!

Happy New Year!
Food, Glorious Food
Year 3 started their new topic after the Christmas break. During the topic ‘Food, Glorious Food’ some of our leaning will include finding out about types of foods, where foods come from, the nutrients found in foods and foods from around the world.

Christmas Prizes and Festive Fridays
Well done to everyone who took part in our Festive Fridays and our ‘Guess the Name of the Cuddly Toy’ competition. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
Year 3 we’re delighted when one of our class won the cuddly toy! Congratulations!
Practical Numeracy
We’ve been learning through play with ten-frame cubes. Great engagement and quick recall! Well done Year 3!
Festive Friday - Number 2
Our second Festive Friday was a craft day. Our class made beautiful Christmas baubles! Don’t they look so colourful!

Forest School at Dromara Primary School
Today we welcomed Caoimhe to our school to complete Forest School activities. Great learning about nature, animals in their environment and camouflage. Thanks Caoimhe!
Jobs and Transport

Activity Based Learning
The current Year 3 ABL activities are connected to our Jobs and Transport topic and help us to develop our learning. Here we are engaging with our activities.
Rockets
We have been learning about different types of transport through our topic. Our art activity this week was to make a rocket. We used our knowledge of how to make a rocket to complete instructional writing later in the week. Well done Year 3!
Jobs and Transport
We have settled back into Year 3 after our half term break. Our class topic during November and December is Jobs and Transport. We'll be learning about the great variety of careers that people can choose from as well as many of the different types of transport.

Hallowe’en
Thank you to everyone who provided gifts for our hallowe’en hampers and supported our school fundraiser. The pupils all enjoyed some special treats and finding out who won the hampers. Well done to all our winners.

Year 3 took part in a UTU competition with Miss Briggs last term. The challenge was to ‘paint a picture of your favourite place to visit in the country where you live’. Congratulations to one of our Year 3s who was a competition winner! We are so proud of you!

Our Sponsored Walk
On Friday 1st October we enjoyed taking part in our school Sponsored Walk. We completed the walk as a class out at the Lagan Walk and enjoyed the fabulous sunshine! The children changed partners a few times during the walk so that they had the opportunity to have conversations with different members of our class. Great chats!

European Languages Day!
It’s Italian Day in Dromara Primary School!
Today we are celebrating our Italian Day and enjoying lots of activities to help us to learn about Italy! Don’t we look fantastic!

September 2021
During the first half of this term our class topic is 'Whatever the Weather'. Our Activity Based Learning stations are connected to our topic or to our current learning in Numeracy or Literacy. Here we are at work!
Class of the Week
We joined together out on the MUGA pitch for our first Assembly of this year....... and our class received the 'Class of the Week' cup. We were delighted!
