Amazing Pointillism!
P7 looked closely at the painting by Georges Seurat and were intrigued by his technique.
He is a post-impressionist artist and uses the technique called Pointillism, which involves applying hundreds of tiny dots (points) of different colours together. From a distance this then looks like one solid colour.
The class looked at aboriginal art which also uses dots of paint to create an image and the children were so inspired they decided to create their own version.
The P7's painted these amazing images of the sky and planets.
They are definitely out of this world!

OCTOBER - Victorian Day - 2021!
In Primary 7 our children had a wonderful, if somewhat strict, day when they dressed up as children from the Victorian Times. There were some imaginative costumes with children dressing as street urchins, maids, wealthier youngsters, a match seller and even a chimney sweep. The children looked amazing!
Lessons began with an examination of hands and fingernails because all Victorian school children knew of the need for cleanliness. This was followed by alphabet drill, a handwriting lesson and arithmetic drill. Unfortunately, a few of the children were disruptive and had to face the consequences by standing in the corner and facing the wall!
Other activities through the day included learning the rules of some familiar and some new playground games and there was also an opportunity to make Victorian toys.
Great day all round!
September PE Fun!
European Languages Day!
It’s Italian Day in Dromara Primary School!
On Friday 24th September Dromara Primary School celebrated the European Day of Languages, with our first 'Italian Day'.
We enjoyed lots of activities to help us learn more about Italy!
We learnt some interesting facts, greetings and Italian numbers! We also had some STEM activities whereby we made the 'Leaning Tower of Pisa' with cups and we made famous landmarks from spaghetti/marshmallows and sugar cubes! Year 7 also used lots of pasta to design the country's high-heeled boot outline. Finally, we designed and made our own 'Carnival of Venice' masks!
