Speed and Skill!
We are nearing the end of term and have been making the most of the lovely June weather!
On 23rd June the Year Two and Three classes got together to enjoy a morning of speed and skill, running races and cheering each other along. You can see from the happy faces that everyone had a great time!

Celebrating the Royal Jubilee!
At the beginning of June Mr Armstrong organised a day for our whole school to enjoy, celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. In the run up to the big event we enjoyed learning about the Queen and Royal family, made beautiful bunting, used our painting skills to decorate flags and created amazing 3D crowns. On the day all pupils had the opportunity to dress up and take part in fun activities including a tea party. A great day had by all!
EXPLORIS!
The big day finally arrived - our class trip to EXPLORIS!
A real adventure for the Year Twos, as we traveled by bus and boat to visit all the exciting creatures in Portaferry aquarium! A great day of learning, chat, lunch with the seagulls and impeccable behavior from all pupils! Well done!

A trip to the post office!
We have been learning to write letters and thought it would be a great idea to take a trip to the Post Office to send these to our families! On a sunny Friday, we popped on our high-vis vests for safety and went for a walk through the village, remembering our very best road safety skills and manners.
When we got to the shop Brian in the post office was very kind, selling a stamp to each pupil and showing them how to put these on the letters before popping them in the post box. It has been a real treat for the pupils to recieve such lovely replies from home - thank you everyone!

Sportathon!
We were delighted to be able to take part in the annual Sportathon, organised by Mrs Milligan at the end of May.
In the course of one afternoon, the pupils were able to take part in seven exciting events, an aerobics session led by Mr Blakely, and a chillout and chat with ice lollies from Mr Armstrong. A wonderful sunny afternoon, with lots of smiles!
Thank you Mrs Reain for the amazing photographs of our class in action!

Let's Read!
We have been making the most of the lovely weather this week by getting outdoors to read together!
The pupils love our new reading mat and some even said they were going to read out in the garden at home!

Happy St.Patricks Day!
We have been learning about the story of St.Patrick and why he is important in Northern Ireland and were excited to complete some seasonal crafts and Irish dancing activities in school! We were even more excited to have not just one but two days off to enjoy the sunshine - lots of lovely stories of the pupils getting out and about on their return!
It all makes Sense!
For our topic we have been learning about our Five Senses!
This topic has lots of opportunities for investigation and finding out, using factual books and discussing and understanding the world around us. You can see by the smiles that it also provides lots of opportunities for fun and co-operation!

Great work, Year Two!
The end of one term...and looking forward to the next one!

December passed in typical style in the Year Two classroom with lots of excellent work completed (particularly good progress in handwriting and adding, always with best effort shown) and of course lots of Christmas themed activities to get us well in the mood for the festive season!
We loved all three Festive Fridays - the games room, craft day and Christmas jumper when everyone showed up in their sparkly best - reindeer horns and Santa hats included. Christmas dinner was as always a highlight, and we were very excited to join in the whole - school video of 'Rule the World': you can check it out on Youtube below - doesn't everyone look super! Can you spot any brothers, sisters or friends from the older and younger classes too?

In between all of our continuing learning, work, play, and the excitement of Festive Fridays we found time to make some very special Christmas crafts, cards, and decorations to take home; we hope you like them as much as we liked making them!
We finished off the term with a sing-a-long of 'Jingle Bells' at home time (great singing!), some high energy Christmas dancing, and while there was no snow in Dromara (for once!) we made our very own bubble blizzard in the playground: a few of the highlights captured below - I will treasure these memories of a very happy time together, along with the lovely cards, drawings, decorations and treats from the pupils: thank you!

I hope everyone has (or had!) a wonderful break - it will be wonderful to see everyone back in school on the 6th of January! Looking forward to lots more fantastic learning adventures together, including our new Topic 'People Who Help Us'!
Festive Fridays are here!
After a busy November of Toasty Tuesdays, Evo Soccer, learning and play together, we are now into December and ready to celebrate the run up to Christmas with our 'Festive Fridays!'
Our first Festive Friday saw the Year Twos heading to the 'Games Room' to test their skills with a series of fun activities and challenges, from football penalties to hook a duck, from build the blocks to the chopstick challenge!
So many smiles and belly laughs - the pupils enjoyed every minute and we loved watching the excitement build as they cheered for and supported each other. Thank you to Mrs Milligan for organising!
Check out our cheerful gallery below!
Next week for Festive Friday 2 we will be making some very funky Christmas Crafts: we are looking forward to it already!

Practical Numeracy!
One of our favourite ways to learn is to get busy with practical activities!
We have been thinking about Time, Money, Shape, and Measure, and also practicing our Number skills through games and Practical Numeracy challenges. Catch some of the action below!

Hallowe'en Hampers!
Thank you to everyone who sent in treats to fill our Hallowe'en hampers - there was enough sweeties and spooky things to make sure that everyone was able to take a bag of tricks and treats home to enjoy!
A very special congratulations to our Hamper Winners!

Sponsored Walk
On Friday 1st October we took part in the annual sponsored walk! We have been training hard for this during our 'Daily Mile' so were fit and ready for it! Spirits were high and there were lots of smiles as we completed our laps, with fun challenges in between to work out our bodies and minds too.
There was juice and biscuits for everyone when we came back inside - thank you Mr Armstrong! You can check out our video of all the fun here! Sponsored Walk Video |
Italian Day
On Friday 24th September Dromara Primary School celebrated the European Day of Languages with our first 'Italian Day'.
On this special day we learned some interesting facts about Italy, said Italian numbers, painted Italian flags and designed our own pizzas: yummy! In school dinners there was pizza and pasta to enjoy and we rounded off the day with Play Time and the 'Pizza Man' dance (you can try it at home by clicking here!)

Class of the Week!
I am excited to report that this week in Assembly Mr Armstrong selected Year Two as his 'Class of the Week'!
All of the pupils have been trying their very best in their work and play, and showing their best behaviour and manners in school: very well deserved. Keep up the great work everyone!

The Daily Mile!

One of our favourite ways to get our bodies moving, get some fresh air and catch up on all of the Year Two chat is during our 'Daily Mile'. We are so lucky to have the community walkway right outside our school and have been making the most of the lovely weather to get out and about together. Miles of smiles!
Wild About Animals!
Our first Topic in Year Two is 'Wild About Animals'! The pupils will be learning about pets, farm animals, and wild animals through their work and play. Here we are, sorting the soft toys according to how many legs they have. Can you spot our class monkey?
