World Book Day - book characters! On Wednesday 8th March the whole of Dromara Primary dressed up as favourite book characters.......even the staff!!! We all paraded on the stage to show the other classes our costumes and associated books. There was even a STAFF parade of brightly coloured crayons connected to the book 'The Day the Crayons Quit' by Oliver Jeffers. Many thanks to everyone for making such a huge effort to dress up for the day.
Bathtime Stories Year 1 boys and girls became an author and wrote their own story about being in the bath. We wrote about our favourite toys, swimming in the bath, splashing water and making bubbles. The illustrated bathtime stories are displayed outside the Year 1 classroom for all the older pupils to enjoy!
World Book Day - Reading Buddies! World Book Day this year was on Thursday 2nd March. Year 4 pupils read a story to us in the morning and Year 5 pupils read to us in the afternoon. Fun in the snow! We had great fun this morning during break outside. We wrote letters and numbers in the snow. It was cold but with our hats on and coats zipped up, we were fine!
'A Miracle in Town' Concert After having to postpone our Christmas nativity in December due to an overwhelming amount of sickness in Year 1, we finally got to perform on Friday 13th January. The children were all fabulous and I was very proud of them. We had a lot to do ... acting on stage, learning songs and dance moves ... not to mention the costumes, the face painting and serious amounts of glitter everywhere! Look at our photographs of the angels, stars, shepherds, camels, kings, narrators and not forgetting Mary, Joseph and our special donkey.
Festive Friday On the 2nd December, we had our first Festive Friday. Mrs Milligan worked hard to set up lots of activities in the hall. Year 1 had a fun morning playing lots of games from Chinese chopsticks, football penalties, hook a duck and building towers....everyone got a prize of sweets for taking part. Have a look at all our photos. Next time, we have craft activities to do ...
Victorian Day with Year 7 Mr Blakely, Melissa and all the pupils from Year 7 came to show us their Victorian day costumes. They told us lots of interesting facts about what school used to be like. Well done to Year 7!
Hallowe'en Hampers! Such excitement in the Year 1 classroom about trying to win a hamper. It must have had something to do with all the sweets and treats in each one. We made a total of 4 Hallowe'en hampers but every pupil went home with some sweets from Mrs Price. Our special winners were Taylor, Erin, Max and Zoe.
Hallowe'en Party! Year 1 and Year 2 pupils joined together for a night of Hallowe'en fun. The costumes were scary and the games included the eyeball race, musical zombies and sleeping vampires!! Many thanks to the PTA parents for all their help with making the party a huge success!
Class of the Week!!! Year 1 pupils won the Class of the Week Trophy!!! We get to display the trophy in our classroom and as a reward we will get a night off homework! Mrs Price was soooo pleased!
Learning about Freddie Four Year 1 pupils have been learning all about the number 4. Our number 4 character is called Freddie Four and he likes going on lots of adventures! The boys and girls rolled out lots of number 4's with their dough and strengthened their hand muscles at the same time.
Sponsored Walk The weather stayed dry for our annual sponsored walk on Friday 30th September. There was plenty of chat and plenty of singing all round the Lagan walk. Lydia and Mrs Price were exhausted, but some of the boys and girls with their high energy levels could have walked all morning! Everyone should sleep well tonight!
Having some fun in Year 1! The boys and girls in Year 1 have all settled very well into school. Here we are having some fun, making new friends and learning all at the same time!
